Life coaching is a process of self-discovery and empowerment . It is about helping people to identify the obstacles that keep getting in their way, assisting them with finding motivation, and identifying change resisting behaviours, in order to understand how these can then be adjusted to allow individuals to move forward in their life.
Every day we are faced with choices. Whether these are life changing choices or day to day choices, each one has an impact – one which can make our lives more or less fulfilling, balanced, and effective. Most of the life choices that we make are based on our belief systems, values, and vision of society and the world around us. Understanding why we make certain choices in life is hugely valuable, but still more significant is learning how we can improve those choices, thoughts, and emotions so they enable us to live to our full potential.
Life Coaching asks that you focus on yourself – on the tough questions, the hard truths… and on your goals and successes. My role within this as a Life Coach is to enable you to:
Coaching is about recognising where you are presently in life, and where you are energised to go in the future. Therapy tends to be focused on healing and understanding the past.
Often when we spend time exploring who we are or what we want in life it can feel therapeutic and eye opening. This is one of the biggest benefits of coaching: getting future focused.
Let me be clear, I am not a therapist. If during our coaching conversations it seems you might be better suited in working with a therapist, I’m happy to make a few local referrals and ensure that you access the right service for you.
Many people come to coaching because they have experienced an event or certain set back in their life which has caused them to reconsider and examine aspects of their lives. In order to make change they seek guidance. Everyone has the potential to begin living the life they see for themselves, but not everyone can identify the changes that need to be made.
We all have very busy lifestyles, and the beauty of coaching is that it is extremely versatile as to how that looks for each individual. First Steps Life Coaching is available on a face to face basis, online basis using video call, or even a series of phone calls. Life coaching is all about you! Sessions are structured to benefit the individuals needs, and ultimately make your sessions as accessible and comfortable as possible, to ensure that you take away as much as you can.
That depends on where you are in life, where you want to go, and how quickly you want to get there. There’s no right or wrong time frame for life coaching. Some clients achieve their goals in as little as three months; others stay with a coach anywhere from six to eighteen months. After clients realise their first goals, they often identify other areas they want to work on. The coaching relationship continues as long as there is benefit to the client.
Working with a life coach will help you to establish what it is that you really want for your future. Together you will identify your dreams, aspirations and goals, to help you achieve what needs to be in your life for you to be happy and fulfilled
