Coaching

What is life coaching?

It starts with you…

Life coaching is a process of self-discovery and empowerment . It is about helping people to identify the obstacles that keep getting in their way, assisting them with finding motivation, and identifying change resisting behaviours, in order to understand how these can then be adjusted to allow individuals to move forward in their life.

Every day we are faced with choices. Whether these are life changing choices or day to day choices, each one has an impact – one which can make our lives more or less fulfilling, balanced, and effective. Most of the life choices that we make are based on our belief systems, values, and vision of society and the world around us. Understanding why we make certain choices in life is hugely valuable, but still more significant is learning how we can improve those choices, thoughts, and emotions so they enable us to live to our full potential.

HOW WILL LIFE COACHING BENEFIT ME?

Life Coaching asks that you focus on yourself – on the tough questions, the hard truths… and on your goals and successes. My role within this as a Life Coach is to enable you to:

  • Challenge existing attitudes, beliefs and behaviours that are not serving you well and develop new ones that meet your goals – taking decisive action to reach beyond your expectations
  • Focus and develop your personal strengths and overcome limitations to develop a more positive, winning attitude within yourself.
  • Show compassion for yourself while you begin learning new behaviours that will benefit yourself and compliment your aspirations, which will ultimately lead you to successfully achieving your goals
  • Maintain composure and focus when things don't necessarily go to plan. No-one is perfect and sometimes we set ourselves goals that might be out of reach at a particular time. These are not steps backwards or failures, but learning curves, which help us to re-evaluate our approach, and makes changes based on what we have learnt.
  • Have the courage to explore beyond your comfort zone, and reach for more than before, while engaging in continual self-discover without fear.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What’s the difference between coaching and therapy?

Coaching is about recognising where you are presently in life, and where you are energised to go in the future. Therapy tends to be focused on healing and understanding the past.

Often when we spend time exploring who we are or what we want in life it can feel therapeutic and eye opening.  This is one of the biggest benefits of coaching: getting future focused.

Let me be clear, I am not a therapist.  If during our coaching conversations it seems you might be better suited in working with a therapist, I’m happy to make a few local referrals and ensure that you access the right service for you.

how do i know if coaching is right for me?

Many people come to coaching because they have experienced an event or certain set back in their life which has caused them to reconsider and examine aspects of their lives. In order to make change they seek guidance. Everyone has the potential to begin living the life they see for themselves, but not everyone can identify the changes that need to be made.

Who can benefit from life coaching?

  • Anyone who feels like an aspect of their life is on repeat
  • Those who know change needs to happen, but don’t know where to start
  • When your best efforts to change are routinely sabotaged by self-limiting beliefs
  • People seeking motivation to achieve their goals with built in accountability
  • Those in need of a perspective shift in certain aspects of their lives
  • People who want to live a fulfilled, content life

Does my coaching have to be face to face?

We all have very busy lifestyles, and the beauty of coaching is that it is extremely versatile as to how that looks for each individual. First Steps Life Coaching is available on a face to face basis, online basis using video call, or even a series of phone calls. Life coaching is all about you! Sessions are structured to benefit the individuals needs, and ultimately make your sessions as accessible and comfortable as possible, to ensure that you take away as much as you can.

How long will i need coaching?

That depends on where you are in life, where you want to go, and how quickly you want to get there. There’s no right or wrong time frame for life coaching. Some clients achieve their goals in as little as three months; others stay with a coach anywhere from six to eighteen months. After clients realise their first goals, they often identify other areas they want to work on. The coaching relationship continues as long as there is benefit to the client.

I do not know where I want to go or what my goal is in life. How can Life Coaching help me?

Working with a life coach will help you to establish what it is that you really want for your future. Together you will identify your dreams, aspirations and goals, to help you achieve what needs to be in your life for you to be happy and fulfilled
